On the 13th, 14th and 15th September come and join us for the Burnley Canal Festival.
Over 50 colourful canal boats will be moored in the area around Burnley Wharf, with events taking place at the Inn On the Wharf, along the Straight Mile, in Thompson Park and at the Weavers' Triangle. Many of the boats will be decorated especially for the event which is part of Burnley's Heritage Open Days celebrations.
Come along and enjoy colourful canal boats, floating cinema, stalls, fun kids events, boat trips, live music, kayaking taster sessions, best decorated boat competition, street theatre, craft stalls, visits to historic heritage buildings and much, much more.
Canal boat trips will run regularly throughout the day and you can visit the Weaver's Triangle Visitor Centre to see what life was like at the height of the cotton industry. In the evening a spectacular 'Boatglow' will illuminate the 'Straight Mile' and look out for details of the fireworks display that will light up the night sky.
Boaters are welcome to bring their boats along, please ring to reserve your mooring early, there is no cost, just be prepared to have a fun weekend. Boaters are invited to arrive for the welcome party on Friday 13th September. There is a small cost for trade boats which goes towards the festival.
